Flood Relief for Grayce and Preston Woodrum
Donation protected
On May 24th of 2020, newlyweds Preston and Grayce Woodrum left home to eat dinner at a friends house. When they returned, they found their first home as a married couple had been devastated by sudden and severe flood waters following a pop-up storm and days of continuous rain. After moving in just 7 months ago, they now find themselves moving out anything that is salvageable.
Apart from significant structural damage to the house, many of their belongings – from family heirlooms to recent wedding gifts – have been completely lost or severely damaged. Their house has been “red-flagged” by the town, meaning it is unsafe and unlivable. This heartbreaking tragedy has displaced the young couple from their home, taken many of their possessions and put them in an unthinkable emotional and financial situation. Preston serves our community as a Sheriff's deputy and Grayce is a student and works part time as our favorite barista at Starbucks.
We started this page to raise money to help Grayce and Preston pay for investigation/reconstruction and/or re-homing. Please consider supporting this wonderful couple and help them begin the process of rebuilding the life they have just begun together.

Additional information we've been asked to give:
Thank you all so much for your incredible donations! They are so appreciated by Preston and Grayce. We (my husband and I) have attended church with the Woodrum family since Preston was just a little kid. Just a few years ago, Grayce offered to babysit for us and she quickly became our "go to" babysitter and dog sitter. Our kids adore both she and Preston. We feel blessed to have grown up in a small town in Southwest Virginia getting to know this family. We loved watching Preston and Grayce be married and our kids were thrilled to be part of their wedding party.
The money donated here will go directly to Grayce and Preston who will withdrawal all the funds to help pay for the investigation of what happened and how to prevent it from happening again, repairing their basement including their HVAC and duct work including rerouting the vents. Other repairs include their home's electrical system as well as other cosmetic repairs like new flooring (to prevent molding) and the replacement of the basement stairs and of course rebuilding the wall that collapsed during the flooding.
They are forever grateful to everyone that has donated their prayers, time and money.
