On Tuesday, May 19, Wixom Lake in Michigan experienced a devastating flood as result of two dam failures. 21.5 billion gallons of water rushed down the lakes and emptied into the surrounding towns in a matter of hours.
Gavin and Holly quickly evacuated their home in Midland and took shelter with friends. They waited four long days for the flood waters to recede enough for them to return and assess the damage.
The significant amount of water released from the dam failures flooded their entire basement and left their main floor 5 feet under water. The urgency of their evacuation did not allow them to take many belongings, and most of what they returned to was damaged beyond repair. Their home is a complete loss and will not be rebuilt.
Please consider helping my friends as they start over and rebuild. Hope and prayers for all those affected by the dam failures.
