Davenport, IA is experiencing its worst flood ever, and at the Co-Lab, we are struggling to keep our space dry. We have teams working around the clock to maintain our pumps, check for new leaks and sandbag. We have already blown through our anticipated budget for flood prep, we are looking at extensive cleaning and repair, and have at least six tenants who will be displaced for quite some time as we clean out the lower level. Since this flood has already gone on for more than a month, possibly extending into the summer, we are reaching out to the larger community to help us sustain and maintain what we have created here.
It's important to note that while our rental agreement is beyond generous, we are responsible for any physical maintenance to the building, according to the lease. Which means any cleanup, or repairs to burst pipes (there are many) comes out of our operating budget.
