My dear friend, Richie Buchanan was impacted by the terrible flood in Waverly on the morning of Saturday, August 21st, 2021. The flood destroyed his father, Jack Buchanan’s home. He was very lucky to escape. He was able to leave with his vehicle, his wallet and the clothes he was wearing. Richie and family have been back to the house, and it is a complete loss. Like most other flood victims in Waverly there was no flood insurance coverage. They have salvaged some personal items, but the water was very destructive, and there isn’t much left. His immediate needs have been met, so they are now focusing on mid-term housing solutions for him and ways to help him get back on his feet. There will be some disaster relief forthcoming, but not enough to replace his home. If you would like to contribute to help Richie's Dad put the pieces together I know they would all be extremely grateful. Please continue to keep the entire Humphreys County community in your prayers. They have suffered immense loss, and the path forward is very uncertain.
