Our Kumon Center Was Devastated by the July 6th Flood – Help Us Rebuild for Our Children

On July 6th, a powerful and unexpected storm tore through our community in North Carolina. Within hours, floodwaters rushed into our Kumon Center, destroying floors, furniture, learning materials, and—most heartbreakingly—our classroom where so many children have come to feel safe, supported, and confident in their learning journey.

Kumon has been a cornerstone of our community, not just a place for math and reading—but a second home for students who need consistency, encouragement, and opportunity. For many of our kids, this is the only space where they truly believe in themselves. A place where they are seen, guided, and celebrated for their progress—no matter how small.

The storm took so much from us. Our center is now filled with water damage, ruined supplies, and the uncertainty of how and when we can reopen. We’ve poured our hearts into this space for years, and now we're facing the heartbreaking reality that without help, we may not be able to return to serving the children and families who count on us.
