Flood leaves D&G family and pets with nothing

Please help — I’ve become aware of a family and their pets from Dumfries and Galloway who are in an absolutely desperate situation. 

The floods of October 28, 2021 hit the Dumfries and Galloway region really bad — but one family and their pets have been severely affected. They have lost everything. And the floods aren’t over yet. 

Their home, near Lockerbie, has been devastated by flood water and they have been forced to flee with their 4 dogs and several cats in the darkness of night as the waters continued to rise around them. They had stayed as long as possible, hoping things would improve. 

But not only was the house at risk the family were in real danger. 

Living down a long lane and being entirely remote from main roads they had to act to make sure they were safe. 

The family were - obviously - reluctant to leave their home, their belongings and their pets behind so an operation was organised by friends to get them ALL out. 

One by one their pets were taken out first - all the family wanted was for their animals to be safe .. it took several hours but they got out - and the family have been taken in by friends until the water receded. 

However with the break of day it only brought more heartache! The house was destroyed, their belongings gone and a family home as they knew it lost forever. But they were safe — as a family they were safe! That’s the main thing.. 

But now we want to try and do something to help them. They haven’t asked for help, but it’s much needed. A few of the animals need veterinary treatment and the family are undoubtedly going to need help and support with rebuilding their lives and belongings.

In the short term we need towels and blankets for the dogs and cats and help to cover the veterinary treatments. It’s also unknown how long the family will be without a home and the animals need somewhere to stay. Once that’s covered if everyone is happy extra funds would go towards helping the family rebuild their lives.

Every single penny will help and I’m asking you to please help this family in crisis in any way you can! 

Mother Nature has shown itself at its worst — but I know as human kind we can show our best.
