Flood Fund for Amazing DeGeorge Family

As many of you may know, parts of my home town of Stevens Point, WI were flooded last week due to the spring melt.  Unfortunately as a result, my sister and brother-in-law’s basement (Ali and Zach DeGeorge) was flooded with 5 feet of water.  Because they are not in a flood plain, they do not have flood insurance.  It was very unexpected, and happened extremely fast.

In the last year they have spent many thousands of dollars replacing their furnace and redoing their backyard.  Their furnace now needs to be replaced, and their backyard redone again - this time with a retaining wall in order to prevent this from happening again.  This all needs to be covered out of pocket. They also lost thousands of dollars worth of furniture, their washer and dryer, water heater, and many other items that were dear to both their and their two awesome little girls’ hearts.

They received an outpour of love and support from their incredible community who were looking for ways to help.  After seeing the damage and everything lost this past weekend, I decided to create a GoFundMe as an avenue for those who may be interested in helping them cover some of the cost of what they lost.  If this is a good time for your family and you are interested in helping, anything you are able to donate would help!  (I should also mention that they appreciate all the positive thoughts and love, too!)

My goal is to raise at least $5,000 for them to help get their lives back to normal for their amazing family.  This is just a fraction of what everything will cost.  Ali and Zach are beyond grateful that it wasn’t any worse, and that their family is safe and healthy.  With the love of their family and friends, they know they will be okay, and feel so touched by everyone who has reached out to them.  Needless to say however, these are still trying times for their family.  Let’s see what we can do to help them get back on their feet!  Please feel free to share this!  Thanks for your support – in whatever form you’ve given it to them! They love you all very much!
