Flood Damage Help for Sarah & David

Donation protected

As many of you know, the flooding from the storm last week was devastating for so many. One of these many families happens to be very close friends, Sarah & David. Sarah is a public school elementary teacher and David is a Nurse. They just moved in together the week before the storm.

On Tuesday, August 24 movers helped Sarah settle into David’s house in Mont Clare.

On Wednesday, September 1 Hurricane Ida caused catastrophic flooding.

Sarah woke up to her car alarm at midnight on Thursday. She looked out the window and saw rescue boats in the street and her car submerged up to the grill in water and quickly realized they needed to evacuate. The main photo shows the water level at that point, the basement was engulfed in flood waters, 7-8 feet high. Thankfully they were able to escape through the back of the house, trudging through 15” of slow moving water. They returned the next day to a home with 18” of water damage to the first floor. The house took 9-10 feet of water. Sarah and David lost their cars in the flash flood. Their home is devastated. They are devastated. Everything in the basement and first floor was trashed. Furniture, guitars, priceless family photos and mementos, etc.

Our friends have been a huge help to get things out of the house and into dumpsters provided by the township and cleaning and drying out the house but there is much more work to be done. I’m asking for anything you can contribute to help aid in their efforts to relocate and remediate the damage.
