Brookvalley Farm Flood Damage, Access Bridge Recovery.

As many of you may be aware, last month some areas unfortunately experienced severe and heavy rainfall. Not only did the rainfall saturate the ground to create flooding, but it also caused the creeks to expand and overflow to feed into that flooding as well. The creek waters were so strong that they damaged the foundation and frame to the access bridge used by the homes at Brookvalley Farm deeming it unsafe for usage. This bridge is the only access to public roads for these homes. Because the homes are not in flood plains, none carried flood insurance, and homeowners does not cover any of the losses, nor will it help rebuild the access bridge. This lead to an application being sent out to PEMA (Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency). This week, we were saddened to find out that the request for assistance was denied since the monetary threshold for county-wide damages was not met. While this might not be a county wide emergency, it’s a rather challenging emergency to experience if you are the homes or business that use this bridge for daily access to any and all public roads. I come to you--family, friends, community--seeking a lending hand in helping the homes of Brookvalley Farm (and home of the most popular unicorn around, and BOB, the Big 'ol Belgian) rebuild a secure and safe bridge to once again obtain usage to the main roads.
