Funds for Flo

Donation protected

Florence Jillian Freeman was born with Esophageal Long Gap Atresia, a rare condition in which an infant is born without a functioning esophagus.  When Florence was born her surgeons succesfully created an esophagus for her out of her out of her colon.  It functioned as intended for the first 20 years of her life, but is now failing.  Consequently, she is now facing reconstructive surgery.

The esophagus Florence's surgeons constructed for her when she was born is no longer properly connected to her stomach.  She is unable to digest any food, and therefore unable to absorb any nutrients.  In order to gain weight for the surgery, she had to get a feeding tube placed in her stomach.

Due to the high risk nature of this surgery Flo is facing a long and taxing recovery period.  This news all came very suddenly and her body is quickly growing weaker.  She needs as much rest, and as little stress as possible as she tries to strengthen her body for surgery and as she goes through the recovery process.

Florence comes from a family of ten kids, and is worried about her inability to work in the coming months to take care of her rent and utility bills.   Flo could not be more determined and hard working in all that she faces in life. She deserves the comfort of knowing these extreneous worries are taken care of and she can be free of as much stess as possible  so she can focus all of her energy on getting healthy.
