Captain Bill, Bachelor Bill, Papa B. Bill Blatter, our dad, has a lot of names. He's also still got a BIG dream to fulfill: to float his houseboat somewhere warm during the winter months. After the winter of 2020, when we watched him struggle through the cold winter in isolation, we would love nothing more than to see him fulfill that dream. The Shanty Mama, his house boat, has been parked down by the Maury River in Buena Vista, VA, where he's lived for 20 years. He tends to his chickens, works on his fleet of small sail boats and dreams of going somewhere south to escape the bitter, grey cold of the winter months. Bill, a Vietnam vet, father of two, environmentalist, tiny home advocate and retired city planner, has always loved being on the water and even owned a charter boat company in the 80s in the Florida Keys. But Shanty Mama (which his family lovingly calls, the land yacht) has no motor or mode of transportation. Will you help Bill with the funds he needs to purchase a motor and a trailer to tow his beloved houseboat to a warm place to live out his late years in comfort?
