Flip's Battle

With permission from Flip and Kathy Minton, I am posting this. My name is Amy Tipton. As most of you know, Flip has worked at the Franklin Co Sheriff's Office for over 40 years. Flip and I have been partners in investigations for almost 14 years. Flip was ready to retire when he learned that he had been diagnosed with tonsil/throat cancer. Flip is seeking treatment at Siteman in St Louis. He recently had surgery and they removed lymph nodes and his tonsils. The recovery from his surgery has been brutal. Yesterday, Flip learned that he has to have 6 weeks of radiation on his throat & chemo treatments. I know that many people have battled cancer but this situation is so close to my heart. As many of you know, my husband, Kirk, had throat cancer (HPV) in 2019 and went through the same treatment plan at Siteman. I witnessed what intense radiation does to your throat. It was a living hell for him. He couldn't even swallow a small pill & received medication with a patch. My husband lost 60 lbs and we stayed in STL during treatment at the doctor's recommendation. This is why I am asking for help. I am asking my friends, family, my law enforcement brothers and sisters, and the community to help me raise money so Flip and Kathy can stay in St Louis during his 6 weeks of radiation. He will be going every day Monday-Friday for radiation and they will also schedule his chemo at that time also.
