Flint's lymphoma treatment
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Pamela Spink. This fundraiser is to help cover the cost of my dog Flint's lymphoma treatment. He is an amazing working dog and a fantastic companion who I hope to have around for a while longer.
I first noticed a swollen lymph node at the end of February. Flint was seen by my regular vet in March. Bloodwork and urinalysis showed a very healthy dog with no obvious illness. We did a fine needle aspirate that came back inconclusive. We waited a couple weeks and did another FNA to see if anything had changed, as well as a SNAP. Flint tested positive for lyme so we ran a C6 to see if he had an active infection. He did not, and the second FNA came back inconclusive as well but hinted towards lymphoma. A biopsy was scheduled at the end of April. During the surgery my vet found another swollen node inside his neck that he biopsied, and a third began to swell immediately after the surgery. Flint was diagnosed with stage 2A high grade large B cell lymphoma on May 4th 2022 shortly before his 8th birthday. Additional diagnostics were run to narrow down the type of lymphoma and see if it had spread internally. Due to his otherwise robust health, the cancer being caught fairly early and not acting aggressively like it usually does, he has a good prognosis. However, the treatment is expensive and any help covering the cost would be greatly appreciated. I have already spent close to $3,200 on diagnostics and had other animal health emergencies earlier in the year that have depleted my emergency vet bill funds.
I am currently working with an oncologist for his treatment, each visit is a 126 mile round trip. Flint is being treated with the CHOP protocol, it requires weekly visits for 9 weeks, then switches to every 2 weeks for a total of 17 treatments. The drugs used are rotated each week and vary in cost and complexity of administration. The money from this fundraiser will go towards the chemotherapy, additional prescriptions he might need, and fuel for the visits.
Thank you.
