Flight Fund - Dogs Rescued in Korea
Our group (Friends of the Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation) works to support foundations that are committed to ending the dog meat trade.
We are presently working with EK Park, founder of Free Korean Dogs (a not-for-profit in Toronto, ON) to raise money to transport survivors of the dog meat trade. EK works very closely with animal activists/rescuers and shelters in Korea to raise public awareness against dog meat trade and also to rescue dogs from dog meat farms. One of her main roles here is to help the rescue dogs find homes abroad.
The momma pup was rescued from a dog broker (who sells dogs for slaughter) by EK’s colleague, and then they discovered she was pregnant. We are now hoping to transport the mom and her five beautiful 3 month old female puppies to Canada or the US where they can find their forever homes. Because of the stigma attached to “Meat Dogs” in Korea, these innocent animals have little chance of being adopted in Korea (hence we must send them abroad to find loving homes). By bringing these dogs to North America, we hope to show the Korean people that they are just the same as any pet/family member and the stigma that dogs from a meat farm are different just isn’t true. They are loveable, cute and cuddly just like every other dog.
The flights for transport are very expensive; approximately $1500 for each dog, so this fund will help transport these adorable and deserving dogs their forever homes in North America. Please give what you can...no amount is too small and we are so thankful for your support.
If you live in the US or Canada and you’re interested in adopting one of these beautiful dogs, please submit an adoption application (using the link below) and a representative from Free Korean Dogs will get back to you the second week of June. Please note adoption fees are $500 USD. The pups are almost three months old and Jindo mix.
