A STYLISH AFRO-SURREALIST SCI-FI HORROR HAS LANDED
My intention is to BROADEN the TROPES and representation that we see within BLACK BRITISH FILMS and solidify us within the SCI-FI GENRE.

Hi, my name is Takíyah and I’m an actor, writer, director looking for £1,000 funding for my next short film.

The film has acquired some funding already but we are looking for additional to pay cast (& crew), distribution costs, and any additional costs on set (mainly props + costumes).

Thank you so much for helping out on my previous film ‘The Fate of Miles Zinc’ and after the success of it (raising over £300 and garnering over 8,000 views on YouTube). I am going bigger and better with this one!!

ABOUT THE FILM:
GENRE - SCI-FI, Afro-surrealist thriller (20-25 minutes)

LOGLINE - In the aftermath of an alien invasion, a young girl returns home for her birthday to find her family hiding a sinister secret.

THEMES - The film sets out to explore humanity and the concept of identity in the midst of a changing environment. It acts as an allegory for AI within our society discussing and questioning what the human experience will be like as we see the progression of AI.

SYNOPSIS - Set in an alternate London, an alien invasion has sent the UK into a panic. Described as ‘facsimiles’ these aliens emit a toxic smell to humans transforming them into trapped soulless immortal beings void of pain and emotion. The paranoia amongst the streets has left a witch hunt mentality leaving people struggling to determine who is human and who is not. As paranoia builds, a young girl returns home for her birthday to find her family acting strange… It is an eerie atmosphere where she must decipher whether they are still family or a threat.

INSPIRATION - The Twilight Zone (TV Series) (1959), The Fifth Seal (1976), The Thing (1982), Edward Scissorhands (1990)

DIRECTOR’S VISION - When discussing art, artists tend to state that it should ‘reflect the times’ being a time capsule of the decade in which it was made. This is what this film does. It takes the classic story of a family drama and a 50s SCI-FI flick and creates a new genre bending piece while highlighting current social talking points. My intention is to BROADEN the TROPES and representation that we see within BLACK BRITISH FILMS and solidify us within the SCI-FI GENRE.

The film will be submitted to Film Festivals across the UK and then distributed at a special premiere!!

Thank you so much and please share with anyone you think may be interested!!
