My name is Omar, I live in Montreal Canada. I write to you on behalf of Sahar, my first cousin on my mother’s side. Sahar is a resilient mother from Gaza City, who, along with her three talented and beautiful children, has faced unimaginable hardships. Prior to October 7, Sahar and her family cherished their lives in Gaza, finding solace in their safety, family warmth, and unity amid past conflicts. However, their world was upended as they were displaced, forced to flee multiple times in a desperate bid for survival.

The initial evacuation made them lose everything they possess but a few summer clothes, and their cherished home was destroyed, a testament to the chaos and urgency of their situation. Sahar's daughter, overcome by the ordeal, fainted more than once. Seeking refuge in the south of Gaza, they encountered endless nightmares, battling for the most basic of necessities—bread and water. The despair in the children's eyes, some even wishing for death to escape their suffering, was a heart-wrenching sight for any parent.

Yet, Sahar never allowed despair to extinguish her hope. She steadfastly reassured her children of their survival and a brighter future ahead. Despite the heartbreak of losing their home and precious memories, she encouraged them to dream of better days.

After five grueling months of relentless conflict, Sahar and her children managed to flee Gaza. However, her husband remains trapped, separated from his family. Today, Sahar finds herself in a foreign country, isolated and grappling with limited resources, all while fearing for their uncertain future.

Sahar humbly seeks your assistance to evacuate her husband and help them settle in a new country. She is determined to fulfill her promise of a decent life for her children, a life where they can heal, rebuild, and continue their education, which has been disrupted for a year.

Sahar has navigated a challenging journey from Gaza to Malaysia with her children, in the wake of escalating tensions in Gaza. Granted a temporary stay in Egypt before moving to Malaysia—a country known for its visa accessibility to Palestinians—they were allocated a 28-day residence period upon arrival. Amidst these upheavals, Sahar has shouldered significant expenses, including airfare and accommodation in both Egypt and Malaysia, all while striving to provide for her children with limited resources.

The urgency to ensure her family's safety and well-being is paramount for Sahar. Her immediate concern is the evacuation of her husband from Gaza and the search for a stable and secure country where they can reunite and rebuild their lives. The complexity of the situation is heightened by the financial logistics involved in supporting her husband from afar.

In response to the constraints posed by the situation in Gaza, Sahar plans to transfer money to Malaysia directly from Canada through the money transfer agent Western Union, since it is not possible to transfer the funds to her Gaza bank account from Canada.

Sahar's resilience and determination to secure a safe and stable future for her family highlight the profound challenges faced by those displaced by conflict. Her story underscores the need for comprehensive support mechanisms for refugees and displaced persons, facilitating not just immediate safety but also long-term security and the opportunity to rebuild lives with dignity.
