FLEA TREATMENTS NEEDED FOR CATS AND A DOG
Oh, noes! We haz fleas!!
I'm guardian to 20 cats, ranging from their teens to post-kitten stage, and also a dog – all of them taken off the streets or given to me after their guardian died or was no longer able to care for them, all fixed and all indoors-only (apart from my dog, who gets to go for walkies). Even though I work three zero-hours jobs, since the covid shutdown, I've been one of those people who is always on the very edge of going under financially and I just can't afford things for them other than food and a roof (the love and sparkling repartee are free).
Unfortunately, we're currently in the midst of a major flea and earmite outbreak and I have neither the money nor credit to pay for their monthly treatments. To treat the fleas+earmites (Revolution Plus) is $22.33 per month per cat (pmpc), and to treat just the fleas (Advantage II) is $7.50 pmpc (flea treatment for my dog is $10 per month). I reckon I need a couple of months of Revolution Plus and then I wondered if some kind people might consider helping me out till the start of next year with 6-months’-worth of Advantage II so I can really get on top of the problem.
Why do I have so many animals if I can't afford to de-flea them? Well, I've lived with rescued cats my entire adult life and have never turned away an animal in need. Where I used to live, I only ever had three cats at a time because ferals/strays just weren't that common. But the shelters in the city where I live now are always full to overflowing, there are feral and displaced cats (and dogs) roaming the streets, and an explosion of feral kittens every year. Also, people don't think to make provisions for their pets in case they die and leave them behind. So, over time, I've naturally become what equates to a one-woman shelter.
My cats and dog are my family. They're very much loved. I just need a bit of help right now to keep them healthy.
