10 LOBSTER CLAWS- Lobster claws attach to the ropes participants harness, and then attach to the cables spanning the trees of our course. Without them, we cannot run our high ropes course!
TUBE NET LADDER- The tube net is the way that participants access our course. Our old tube net must be retired due to age and wear.
ALF SYSTEM- This system is a series of 2 pulleys, one secured to the tree above the tube net and the other anchored to the ground below the tube net. There is a long span of rope running through both the top and bottom pulley. When a participant climbs up the tube net, they will attach their harness to this rope. The top pulley in the system has a breaking mechanism in it, so if a participant were to fall while climbing the tube net, this pulley would stop them from falling. Imagine a breaking mechanism similar to a seat belt, where under little pressure the seat belt will move in and out freely, but at a higher speed the seat belt will lock automatically.
In order for FLBC's ropes course to continue to operate at the highest safety standards, this equipment will need to be acquired BEFORE our next summer season.
We are grateful to Flathead Electric's Round Up for Safety Program who generously provided a $1300 grant towards this project. Thank you for YOUR support in completing the needs of our Challenge Course!
