Afghanistan Flash Flood Victims

Donation protected
OUR GOAL:

We the Massoud Foundation and Watan Project are leading a  joint effort, with on the ground help from several other non-profits, emergency response, and civil society organizations of Parwan Province.  We are seeking broad support from the International community to raise desperately needed money to support and assist the Afghan people tragically impacted by the flooding in the Parwan, Panjshir, and Kapisa provinces.

Our Massoud Foundation staff in Afghanistan are on the ground,  and have  confirmed with media outlets the devastation caused by the flooding has resulted in the following:

Approx. 150 deaths, mostly women and children;
More than 250+ people either injured or missing (likely trapped under debris);
More than 500+ homes have been destroyed and;
An estimated 4500+ people who required shelter and basic necessities.

In addition to the tragic loss of life and homes, the flooding in these provinces has destroyed hundreds of acres of agricultural land, with the heavy rain wiping out all crops.

We are in direct contact, and currently sheltering the victims in Parwan, Panjshir, Wardak, and Pakita, as the Massoud Foundation of Afghanistan has mobilized all offices in the provinces of the afflicted.

The Massoud Foundation & Watan Project, once our fundraising has ended, will have the Massoud Foundation in Afghanistan distribute the aid by our database pairing each victim and family we have recorded to match each donor. We will be providing records, news coverage,  and long term communication between the family and donor to lead by example, in hopes other foundations raising funds will uphold the highest levels of transparency.

Now more than ever the Massoud Foundation and the Watan Project are seeking any donation to support those most in need during this disaster. 100% of all donations will be used to support the families and victims most impacted by this crisis.

WHO ARE WE?

The Massoud Foundation USA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit public benefit corporation that aspires to bring together the people of the Afghan diaspora in America to celebrate the rich history of Afghanistan and gain their commitment to help Afghanistan recover and prosper. They also aim to celebrate and study the life and contributions of the late Ahmad Shah Massoud in order to further Afghanistan's relationship of mutual admiration, partnership, and prosperity with the people and the government of the United States of America.

The Watan Project is a group of young Afghan-Americans based out of Southern California that hope to make a difference in the Afghan community. They teach our youth about Afghanistan’s rich history, talk about issues in the Afghan community, as well as lead by example with their humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan. Members of the Watan Project hope to inspire a movement in hopes that other young Afghans will join them in their journey to create a better Afghanistan.
