Flamenco dance floor fundraiser!
Donation protected
In March 2020, we lost our studio space when the AudioCinema building was sold to developers. In April, our plans to rebuild were put on hold when the global pandemic started. Since then, we have held classes and rehearsals on ZOOM, backyards, parks, theater basements and ballet studios in off-hours. We have been creative in finding space but are ready to settle down again in a studio dedicated to Flamenco.
We are incredibly fortunate that those same developers who bought AudioCinema have now given us the unique opportunity to rebuild our studio space in what is now called The Factor Building. However, due to supply chain issues, the cost of wood has more than doubled since 2020, and the funds we put aside to rebuild our studio won't entirely cover the additional expense.
This fundraiser is to help us cover the cost of wood for a 900-square-foot floating dance floor explicitly designed for Flamenco and percussive dance. The floor will stay with the Portland Flamenco community; our design will allow us to pick up and move as we grow into new spaces in the future.
We estimate the cost of building the new studio to be about $7,000, including wood purchase ($3500), urethane ($1000), mirrors ($2,000), and additional building supplies ($300).
Your contribution will help our dreams of rebuilding become a reality and will help create space for countless flamencos to learn and share this beautiful art form for years to come.
