Support Tom's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
The phrase, “it always happens to the nicest people” has been the reoccurring theme in conversations amongst our coworkers since being told of Tom’s diagnosis. On December 8, Tom was transported while on duty to the emergency department with symptoms of a possible kidney infection. Instead of a simple course of antibiotics, Tom received the devastating news that he had Stage IV cancer that had metastasized to multiple other areas. His prognosis and treatment options remain unknown.
Tom is one of the most genuine, kindhearted, selfless people we are lucky enough to work with in our EMS department. He never asks for anything, choosing instead to dedicate his time to staffing one of the busiest areas we cover without ever voicing a single complaint. He is the embodiment of a team player, constantly offering his assistance for the good of the department. Tom is reliable and consistent, and our goal is to become the same for him as he begins this terrifying journey.
Please help ensure that Tom has options for his future. We refuse to accept this narrative for our friend, partner, and brother. Anything you can spare to help alleviate some unnecessary stress for Tom would be appreciated more than you can know. We will continue to update as we know more.
