This is my old reliable 2002 Toyota Avalon, which died the other day on I-10E while I was on my way home with perishable food. Due to a tow truck driver that got to me quickly, I was able to save the groceries. My poor car, not so much. I think it has given up the ghost but it has served me well.
I don't really know much about cars I just know I was doing 70mph almost to my exit when my car went "bang" and then started shaking. I was hoping it was just a tire, but no such luck. Now the car doesn't work anymore. Those who know a bit about it say it's the timing belt, which they all agree on, several say the motor is also shot. Even a timing belt would cost more than it's worth to fix and I am sad.
Why should you choose my fundraiser above others? Well, I'm not a racist like someone raising money on another platform who yelled a racial slur at an autistic five-year-old so I have that going for me. Apart from that I'm truly a strugging artist that has four teenagers that I have to provide for because they live here and came out of my body.
I'm not a fancy person, I'm far too lazy for that. My criteria for a new to me car is that it runs reliably and can get from point A to point B, and that I can drive it for a few hours at a time when I go visit my son who is disabled. There are things that would be nice, but that's really the main criteria. It would be wonderful if I can get working airconditiong too. I don't care if it's ugly, I only care that it's functional.
Really I'm sad that my precious Avalon has apparently died as it was a GREAT car. I've found some vehicles in the $3,000 to $4,000 range that I think could work. I need to pay cash as I can't afford payments. Hell I'm here because I can't afford a car so that means I'm completely broke.
A car is a necessity rather than a luxury where I live, because there is no public transport. There is a friend of mine who said that I live in an economically depressed area but I can guarantee you that it's not just the area that depressed. Not being able to get around town is a mental health issue for me.
My poor Avalon will have to be sold for scrap metal and parts like all the other old faithful cars that die. It's a shame, really, because I would have been eligible for antique car tags in two years and I was hoping to make it. Antique sounds much fancier than "old and rusty."
