September has been one of the hardest months for our family. Our home, where we’ve built so many memories over the past 20 years, was badly damaged by a fire. The most important thing is that my husband, our three kids, our dog, and I are all safe — and we feel so grateful for that.

Our garage was destroyed, and unfortunately, all the things inside are likely gone. While some items hold memories we can never replace, we now face the reality of needing to replace critical things. Additionally, with our home temporarily uninhabitable, we will be staying in a hotel/other lodging for several months, together with our dog and the five of us.

Our insurance doesn’t cover these costs, and the expenses for a place to stay, food, and everyday essentials quickly add up while we are displaced. We never imagined needing to ask for help, but now we humbly reach out to our community.
