I’m Nathalie, a Venezuelan living in Colorado with my dog Bella. She’s the only family I have where I live, as all my other family members live in different states and even my parents are in a different country.

Bella is only 1 year and three months old and two weeks ago she started acting differently. She stopped eating and had a high fever, so I took her to Colorado Animal Specialty and Emergency’s ER. After the first evaluation, the doctors found a small mass on her neck. Their suggestion was to treat it as an infection and monitor her to see how it progressed over the days.

After a couple of days, instead of shrinking, the size of the mass increased dramatically and her breathing started to get obstructed by this mass. I brought her back and then the veterinarians decided she needed to get a CT scan, which got follow by a surgery to drain the inflammation and at the same time steroids and antibiotics to reduce the rest of the “mass”

Thankfully, she has insurance but it covers up to $10,000, only 80% of it. Right now we’ve already used 7K of that but in Sunday 07/21 Bella had to get back in the emergency room because she started looking bad again, so now she needs even more tests, and even maybe surgeries to get to the main source of her illness. I’ve already got CareCredit loans and maxed out credit cards while I wait for the insurance money to come back to be but every day that passes she needs something new and adds up the bill.

Which is why I created this campaign.

Anyone that has ever met Bella knows that she brightens up wherever she goes. She comes with me to work and makes every single kid happy by licking their faces and letting them play and pet her all day. She is my company whenever I feel alone far from home and she makes everyone smile with her high energy wiggling butt.
