This is Raul, he is my father. Recently, he suffered from liver failure and a hernia. He was trying to make money while in pain and receiving treatment until he was on the waitlist for a liver transplant. While working every day, barely making anything because his business started to go downhill when he could not work and deal with the pressures of being his own boss, he started to lose work opportunities. He suddenly had a horrible pain where his hernia was located. Everyone told him to get it checked, and he did not want to go to the hospital because he was scared. The hospital told him that he needed surgery to take the hernia out. He then got into critical condition and was sent to intensive care and went through a cardiac arrest. We thought he was gone, but he was resuscitated, thanks to the medical team he had at Long Beach Memorial. However, his ribs were broken, he suffered internal bleeding, and was left with damage to the brain due to taking 30 minutes of no oxygen to the brain. My father was already gone, no response to any pain, and we had to make a terrible decision to either wait with the medication to help him live or disconnect him entirely. Everyone thought it was best for him to leave peacefully.
We are now going to figure out how to get his funeral expenses because his children can only help with so much. We all have the same expenses as everyone else, and we understand that. But if we could all do this together and help a normal family going through the same issues as everyone else but just with a bit of help, it really helps. Everyone who knows me knows I have helped in every way I could, and I’m not asking as a transaction but just from the heart. I appreciate you all so much for already helping. God bless you all with something good in return.
