The Brown Family Medical Expenses

May 14, 2024

Dear friends and family,

I wanted to provide an update on Doug's health journey.
This afternoon Doug was admitted to the hospital again with complications involving his pancreas. Macy and Doug will meet once again with the GI team in the morning to figure out what the next step will be to get Doug on the road to recovery.
Over the past few months, Doug has been in and out of the hospital, facing numerous challenges with his pancreas inflammation and recurrent infections. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries, the root cause of his condition remains elusive, and the road to recovery has been long and arduous.

Unfortunately, Doug has been unable to work since November 2023 due to his health complications, placing a significant financial strain on him and his family during this already challenging time. As they navigate through this difficult period, any support, whether through prayers or donations, would be greatly appreciated.

Your prayers for Doug's healing and for his medical team to find a solution are invaluable. Additionally, if you are able to contribute financially, it would provide much-needed relief and assistance to Doug, Macy, and their baby boy, Camden.

Thank you for your continued love, support, and generosity during this incredibly stressful time. Together, we can help Doug on his journey to recovery and support his family through this challenging period.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Friends and Family of the Brown Family

The Brown Family

On Saturday February 17th Doug was life flighted to Overland Park Regional Medical Center due to elevated heart rate, failing kidneys and chronic pancreatitis. Doug has been sedated for 8 days, and they are weening him off sedation. His kidneys started to function on their own after the first couple of days but he is still suffering from the chronic pancreatitis and retaining a lot of fluid in his belly. After several scans the surgical team does not recommend surgery at this time. His pancreas is very inflamed and leaking fluid. There plan is to continue to monitor Doug with scans while continuing to give him fluids. The critical care team will continue to monitor him in ICU and keep a close watch on  the pancreas and the fluid it is leaking. The doctors said it can take several weeks for his pancreas to start healing. Like I mentioned before surgery is not an option at this time because the pancreas is so inflamed and leaking fluid.
Macy and Doug are both very hard working people. They have been married for almost 5 years. They have spent the last 4 years working with fertility specialists trying to convince a baby. This past November they welcomed their sweet baby boy Camden into the world. Camden is a healthy 3 month old miracle baby that they prayed for, for many years.
When Doug suddenly became critically ill, life changed for their new little family. With the diagnosis the doctors have given Doug the timeline of his recovery is so uncertain.

If you know Macy and Doug they pride themselves in providing for their family and they are always taking care of others as well. Now is the time that we as their family and friends can come together and help them. First and foremost we are asking for prayers for their family. We know how strong the power of prayer is and feel like praying is the best medicine right now. If you feel  compelled to donate to help them with the unexpected expenses that would be a blessing for them as well.
Thank you for taking the time to stop and read this post and for loving Doug, Macy and Cam.❤️
