On Monday, May 12th, Antonio, Lauren, and Paul were on their way home after grabbing dinner, happily discussing Lauren’s first day at her new job, when the family was involved in a horrific car accident after a police pursuit ended in a fiery car crash on Crenshaw Boulevard south of Vernon Avenue at about 8:20 p.m.
Firefighters arrived a short time later to conduct a rescue operation. Lauren, along with their 12-year-old son Paul, were trapped and had to be extricated with Jaws of Life from their red sedan.
Lauren remains in critical condition and has undergone major surgeries. This isn’t going to be a short journey. It’s the start of something much bigger: a battle for recovery, for healing, and a fight for life. The road ahead is uncertain and incredibly challenging. Right now, the medical team is focused on stabilizing her condition; she is expected to remain in the hospital for a while.
Antonio as well remains hospitalized with internal bleeding resulting from his head and back injuries, uncertain of what difficulties he faces ahead.
Paul has now been discharged and is recovering at home from his injuries to his hands and face. He is devastated and suffering from emotional distress.
Sasha, their eldest daughter, was not in the car at the time of the accident. She is heartbroken and has not left her parents' side as they go through this devastating time in their lives.
Because of this incident, Antonio is unable to work, pay off his bills, and take care of their son and daughter. The financial strain on the family is overwhelming. This fundraiser is to help cover medical bills, household bills, and everyday living expenses while they get the care and recover. All donations will go directly to the family.
Every little bit counts. Every share makes a difference. Every prayer is felt.
