Life for Loki
Donation protected
As of Wednesday, January 18, 2023, Loki, our 8-year-old Russian Blue, stopped eating and drinking. He quickly became lethargic, hid away into dark small places, and stopped going to the bathroom. Anyone who knows him would know that he is a very lovable, active, and healthy cat that loves to be outside just as much as cuddling up with his family on the couch or in bed. This behavior was unlike himself and very alarming.
After bloodwork from the vet, there weren’t any indicators of anything being the matter, so we just monitored him and tried to give him appetite stimulants. After another night, things still didn’t improve. In fact, they worsened with his temperature dropping to a dangerous level and he was shivering. After calling 4 different animal hospitals, he was emitted. After further testing it was discovered that he is positive for FIV (basically a contagious life-time virus for cats that suppresses his immune system, so a normal cold could become pneumonia for him — probably given to him from his mother at birth), and so far determined from an ultrasound that he has an enlarged spleen that could be a result of cancer.
I am asking friends and family for prayers, first and foremost, but also if you have any amount you’re willing to donate, it will be greatly and deeply appreciated. I only know of what the cost is so far, but we could be looking at more as the procedures continue.
We still have approximately $60k of our own medical expenses from our unexpected emergency room and hospital stays in 2022 (Alex’s back, my kidney stone, and then Lochlan’s allergic reaction to peanut butter), but this has made us feel more desperate for help. It has been an extremely trying year for us medically, and not even to mention all of our house issues, but the least I can ask for at this time is to help with the medical expenses for Loki.
I’m praying for a happy ending to this story; I’m not ready to say goodbye to my little Loki.
Thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart,
