brynlees brain surgery
Donation protected
Hi our names are Trevor and jazmin. We are the young parents of two beautiful little girls . Haven is 6 and brynlee is 14 months. We have created this fundraiser for brynlee to help with her care.
Brynlee was born on July 18th 2013 with no complications . She has always been pretty normal except when she had these "fits" she would be crying and banging her Head on the wall or the floor or anything she could. She also would try to pull her hair out and hit herself in the Head.
On June 4th 2014 brynlee had two seizures. We took her to the Hospital and they ran alot of tests (ct scan, blood work, urine tests) all was normal and we went home. A week later we saw a neurologist and she ordered an MRI.
The MRI showed a condition called Chiari Malformation type 1. Never heard of it? Yeah neither did we. But like any parents would we began researching.
Chiari malformations (CMs) are structural defects in the cerebellum, the part of the brain that controls balance. Normally the cerebellum and parts of the brain stem sit in an indented space at the lower rear of the skull, above the foramen magnum (a funnel-like opening to the spinal canal).
After getting the diagnosis we began looking for neurosurgeons. We found Dr. Lissa Baird and scheduled an appointment. She informed us that brynlees behavior or "fits" are headaches. Brynlee has pressure building in her brain . Her cerebellum tonsils are putting pressure on her brain stem and her spinal cord causing a restriction of fluid.
The only way to help her is by having a brain surgery called decompression surgery. We've scheduled the surgery for November 7th 2014 . We will spend 4 days in the Hospital and then she will recover at home. Our household is only supported by Trevor's income so due to him missing work things are financially strained. The Hospital is over an hour away and we need help with gas, food, and bills. We are also planning to buy brynlee a few toys to take with her so she can feel more comfortable.
