We are SEARCHING for any loose change lying around your car, house, couch, street, desk, etc. We will be DONATING 100% of all money collected to the INDIANOLA SCHOOL DISTRICT to help the students in the Elementary schools have more equipment to play with during recess and free time. Because of COVID-19, recess equipment is limited and evenly dispersed between ALL classes in the school. Because of the unprecedented times we are facing, we do not realize some of the protocols our schools have, to ensure students’ SAFETY. Our GOAL is to raise enough funds to give EACH class in EVERY Indianola Elementary school a set of equipment to ensure students are still enjoying their recess and free time. This could include (balls, chalk, board games, hula-hoops, bean bags, jump ropes, parachutes, and more). Because of how EXPENSIVE this equipment can be we will need ALL the help we can get to make sure our students are still SAFELY enjoying their time in school.
Our Why: Give all students the opportunity to stay active and excel in the classroom.
Background: I am in my third year at Simpson College where I am working to become a Physical Education teacher. We as an education department are very grateful for everyone who is a part of the Indianola School District, for allowing us to come into the schools and gain the valuable experience needed to become teachers in the future. As a way to show my gratitude for all they have provided for us, I wanted to give back in some way. As I looked at a jar of spare change in my room I had collected over the past year, I thought of others who would appreciate this amount of money rather than cashing it in for myself. So, with the spare change I collected, I came up with Spare Change for Change, a fundraiser benefiting Elementary Schools in the Indianola School District.
How: Through multiple ways of collecting monetary donations, our goal is to raise $2,500, which would give each elementary classroom a new set of recess equipment. Different ways of fundraising would include: class coin drives for each class (with a prize for classes who raised the most), online monetary donations (venmo & Go-Fund-Me), and mail-in donations.
