This is Gunner. He is our five month old teddy bear baby. He has helped complete a hole left in our family's hearts by our previous pet. Gunner, along with his adopted sister Blu, have helped to heal our hearts and filled our house with joy again.
After a year and a half we were ready to welcome another Rottweiler into our home. We found Gunner. He was a tiny little five week old baby when we found him, a five hour drive away. Instantly we fell in love. Gunner became our 10 year anniversary baby. Our first Rottie Bear, who sadly passed due to old age and health issues was our wedding baby. As all our family and friends know, Bear was a HUGE part of our lives. So it just felt so right that Gunner was our 10 year anniversary baby. We were so excited to bring him home at eight weeks old. He was introduced to our Weimaraner Blu and she was instantly in love with him as much as the rest of us. These two are inseparable, best friends. Our three kids are attached to these two as well, the love we have for these animals is indescribable.
At one of Gunner's well check appointments it was discovered he had an innocent heart murmur. The doctor said they would check again at his next appointment, as most large breed puppies grow out of it by 4months of age. Unfortunately in Gunner's case it's not an innocent heart murmur anymore, it has progressed. After a second and third opinion including an ECG, Gunner now has a grade 3-4 heart murmur.
Now our journey begins to see a cardiologist specialist at WSU Vetrinary Hospital in Pullman, WA. Or initial appointment will be lots of testing and to plan our path forward. This initial visit will cost us about $600. It's extremely likely that Gunner will have to have heart surgery based on the diagnosis at the previous three vet offices he's been to. Thankfully WSU Pullman now does laproscopic heart surgery so it's less invasive and safer for their patients. However, if this is the ending result for him, this is going to cost us about $4000 at a minimum.
Please help us give Gunner the life and all the love he deserves. Anything helps.
All our love,
The Brittain Family
