Fix James's Car
I need to get my car fixed, ASAP.
On Friday night, Nov. 23, 2015, while driving home, my car, a 2006 Ford Taurus, started making a high pitched whining sound as I was arriving home. I pulled into my parking place and popped the hood to see flames coming out.
I had the car towed to a local repair shop the following Monday, and it turnes out that the air-conditioning compressor had frozen and the spinning serpentine belt had burst into flames because of this.
The bad news is that the repair will cost about $1200, for the repair and replacement of the various parts, as well as a long ovedue oil and transmission fluid change.
I have to have an operating vehicle. I had been my father's caretaker for the past 15 years, and he died a few months ago. I've been searching for substantial work, but have been unable to get more than a minimal paying graveyard shift job, and to even keep that I need transportation because walking 5 miles through the winter night and crime of Salinas is not a viable option.
Also my ongoing search for a more substantial job will be halted if I can't get around to interviews. I have some prospects, but job seeking takes time, and it may be months before the applications get processed, and interviews are hard to do from homeless shelters.
Please help me with whatever you can give. If I can't get my car fixed, homelessness is a real possibility, and this is desperation time.
