Fixing Steve's Bucket List Boat
Donation protected
In October, 2020, my husband Steve was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and given less than a year to live. This news was, of course, devastating to us as a family. At the top of his bucket list was to, if he was healthy enough, buy a boat and spend the summer out on the water fishing with our kids.
For the next few months it was all he could talk about. He was incredibly excited about the possibility of his goal becoming a reality as he stayed healthy and would be able to fish and captain a boat. Searching for boats became a hobby and kept his mind off of his problems.
April came around, and he purchased what he thought was the perfect boat - a 21ft Lund fishing boat that the seller swore was perfectly seaworthy and would last him through the summer and beyond. Unfortunately, he lied, and the boat needs extensive and costly repairs before Steve can take it out and spend time with our family.
Due to Steve's medical retirement, these repairs have added up to a point where we cannot handle them financially, leaving his bucket list summer at risk. As of now, the boat will not be useable until at least mid-June when the next round of repairs must be done.
Any donations would help make Steve's summer dream a reality. As of now, we are forced to carry through with repairs in the hopes of salvaging it or we are left with a dangerous boat that we could not sell in good conscience. We would be incredibly grateful to all donators because seeing my husband happy would mean the world to my family and to him as we battle his cancer.
