Our son Kai was born on February 15, 2020, two months before his due date, weighing 3 pounds, 8 ounces. He had to spend a very lengthy 56 days in the NICU. When we got him home from the hospital, we thought that would be the end of the medical worries.

Unfortunately, Kai has a condition called plagiocephaly (pley-jee-uh-sef-uh-lee), also known as "flat head syndrome." Kai has begun treatment, which is done using a DOC Band (infant helmet). His head has grown so fast that he will now require a second helmet.
