Fix Tess Moroney’s Injured Spine

Donation protected
Due to a ski accident, my daughter, Tess Moroney, is now an incomplete tetraplegic (quadriplegic) suffering from major neuropathic (nerve) pain, chronic neck pain and an ongoing list of medical issues as a result.

Tess was on a work-related trip in Chamonix (France) when another skier cut in front of her forcing her to take evasive action. Tess hit a hard bank of snow and herniated two discs into her spinal cord causing bruising and compression to her spinal cord in the process.

Since then, Tess had the frightening experience of losing all sensation in her hands and feet and has had to learn to walk and use her hands again.

Tess has since undergone two major surgeries to remove the herniated discs, decompress major swelling and prevent further damage to her spinal cord. She has spent many weeks in hospital since July 2018 and has recently completed 8 weeks of intensive in-house physiotherapy at a spinal rehabilitation centre to restore whatever nerve function she can.

Although she can walk, Tess has problems with balance and has to be very careful on uneven surfaces as well as stairs, ramps etc. Tess’s biggest challenge is to restore function in her arms and hands and to cope with the intense burning neuropathic nerve pain in her fingers and hands.

Tess has lost her high-level career in Geneva (Switzerland) and is fighting hard to get compensation from insurers.

At just 32, Tess has her whole life ahead of her, but she needs help to get back on her feet financially, medically, emotionally and legally so she can continue to share her wonderful skills and beautiful personality with others. Tess helps so many others cope better with the challenges of life. Now, she is the one that needs help.

Tess is a fighter, with many dreams to fulfil. She is filled with purpose and intention to help others benefit from her experience - and fully intends to do so.

For those of you who don’t know Tess, she is the sort of girl who lights up a room. Her kindness and willingness to help others, her infectious laughter, imagination, sunny disposition, determination and sheer ability in everything she does, makes her a leader and an inspiration to so many people. If you need someone to hold your hand, cry on your shoulder, receive incredibly wise advice or pull together the biggest event at the highest level – Tess is the first person you would call.

There are many obstacles that Tess will have to overcome in returning to normal life, and any donation, both small and large will be most gratefully accepted. Not everyone can afford to donate, but perhaps you would be willing to forward this link to anyone you think might be able to help.

Tess’s treatment for her injury can only be provided by specialists. Funds raised will be used to buy equipment, gain specialist treatment and receive ongoing intensive physiotherapy and occupational therapy which she will need for her lifetime.

These Funds will be withdrawn and kept in a trust account managed by Tess's mother, Carolinda Witt, and will ONLY be used for Tess’s medical, rehabilitation and legal expenses – NEVER for profit. Any remaining funds will be donated to the Spinal Wing at UTS. https://www.giving.uts.edu.au/projects-and-causes/spinal-cord-injury-recovery-research-program
