Fix The Fruit Stand Truck!
Donation protected
The fruit stand truck needs a new transmission!
Help us raise money to get her fixed up and ready to go in time to start our summer season in June.
We don’t have much time!
Our fundraising deadline is June 1st.
Here's what happened:
Last summer, Caleb & family were headed home from a Thursday produce pickup in Yakima. The fruit stand truck's transmission failed while driving down Snoqualmie Pass, leaving them all stuck on the side of I-90 with thousands of pounds of produce, unable to drive back to the ferry.
After many, many hours, ideas, phone calls, and a shockingly expensive tow, our truck and trailer made it to the stand on a semi truck flatbed to open the fruit stand Friday morning.
A limping truck threw a red-hot monkey wrench into the second half of our season. Too stubborn to close up ahead of schedule, we managed to coordinate the remaining trips to Yakima in a rented Penske box truck.
It’s even less fun than it sounds.
So here we are, asking for your help – we need to replace the transmission in our beloved, workhorse truck to make the fruit stand happen this year. The parts, labor and fees will cost upwards of $6,000, before taxes and fees.
Please donate & help us reach our $6500 goal!
Any money raised beyond our goal would go towards our first produce pick up, supplies like produce bags, and new, bigger tents to cover the stand area & keep us all cooler. We can dream, right?
Our island community is amazing, and we know how much this tradition means to many of you. Our hope is to continue bringing great produce here to Vashon, from near & farther afield, every summer.
The more people we reach, the more likely we are to meet our goal.
Please share on social media, or tell your friend you ran into at Thriftway about our fundraiser! Each of your actions move us closer to a working truck, and we are so thankful to be part of such a generous and caring community.
Please donate if you can.
- Any amount – no matter how small – is a big deal to us.
Thank you Vashon!
