When 5-month old Pluto came in to the emergency hospital, he was crying out in pain.  We gave him some pain medication immediately and you could see the relief in his eyes.  We were able to look at Pluto more closely and we found that his lower jaw has a complete comminuted (literally broken in two) fracture.  At this point, we discovered that his original owners did not have the funds and they were faced with the difficult decision of ending his life by euthanasia.

I've never been more attracted to a patient as I have been to Pluto.  I cried as soon as his owners allowed me to become his foster-mom and give him a chance at this sweet life.  Even when we were taking his x-rays, he was still wagging his tail at us despite the amount of pain he was in!

He will require extensive care during his recovery including hospitalization, IVs, a CT scan, and surgery to fix his sweet face.
