Hi im Heidi who unfortunately can’t have children so my dogs have always been my fur babies. Most people who know me knew Luca our Malamute who was my world for 13 Years and with my partner Paul and his two children was like our 3rd child.

After losing our amazing boy Luca to liver cancer, following many months of soul-destroying palliative care and veterinary visits and extensive bills, we decided to mend our broken hearts and get another dog, Milo.

Luca was a nightmare with people and dogs and well known in our village as being "that aggressive (husky) dog with the muzzle on" and we had even many years ago been told by a trainer to just put him to sleep as he would never change and he didn't, but we loved him just the way he was and never gave up on him because he chose us knowing we would always be there for him, through thick and thin.

Milo who is the sweetest loving little guy, came into our heart Friday 14th July and when taking him for his first vacation Wednesday 19th July found out he was born with a congenital heart defect, PDA Patent Ductus Arteriosus, this is not covered by his insurance as it is a birth defect and his insurance is less than a month old so we have to pay upfront for his surgery to correct this which is in excess of £5,000.

Some would say we are unlucky to have two such heartbreaking stories in such a short period.

We thought Milo was meant to heal our broken hearts but little did we know we literally were destined to fix his broken heart and like before not give up on him no matter how difficult the journey!
