Howdy! My name is Maria. I'm raising funds for my car, which if you're familiar with American cities, is kind of a necessity! It's had some work lined up for it to begin with, but now the steering is going out and I'm losing power behind any acceleration; it's not safe to drive, especially when I live in one of the worst places in the United States for vehicular incidents, and it's not safe for me to just hoof it as a pedestrian (also one of the highest in pedestrian deaths by vehicle!). But! It is fixable, and once that's done, I'll have something I can rely on for many years to come.

The repairs are scheduled for November 17th and 18th; if I can get an amount of funding before then, that's fantastic! If not, I'll be grateful for any help I can get in the first place!

While I can try and sustain myself a little on the good will of others, I'm an unemployed student committed to a well-over full-time class schedule. I commute to my University and have a somewhat inflexible situation when it comes to transportation at the moment. Helping me helps a future teacher; I'm pursuing my Bachelor's, and soon a Master's, to become a professor myself.

All funds will be used to repair my vehicle. I have received an emergency scholarship for $1,000 already and the check was addressed to and given directly to the mechanic shop helping me with the repairs. The first goal is to get to $1,300, and once there, the fundraiser will open up to the full $2,600. Thank you!
