Cross-border shopping and small business trade just changed forever.
On August 29, 2025, the U.S. eliminated the $800 de minimis threshold, which previously allowed consumers and businesses to import goods duty-free under that value.
Now:
Consumers face surprise fees, taxes, and brokerage costs on even the smallest orders.
Small businesses that rely on cross-border e-commerce are drowning in new costs.
Corporations face massive disruptions in logistics, fulfillment, and customer satisfaction.
This isn’t just an inconvenience — it’s a global trade crisis that affects millions of people.
What This Campaign Will Do
This GoFundMe will fund the development and implementation of a global solution to shipping challenges caused by the elimination of the de minimis. You will no longer be ripped off by Couriers exploiting the chaos!
Your contributions will support:
Technology Solutions → a digital platform to streamline cross-border compliance, reduce brokerage costs, and automate tariff classification.
Policy Advocacy → funding a global coalition to lobby governments for fair trade practices.
Small Business Relief → tools and programs to help Etsy, Shopify, Big Commerce and independent sellers stay competitive.
Consumer Transparency → systems that ensure customers know costs upfront, without hidden surprises at delivery.

United States
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) via a July 2024 report, there are approximately 34,752,434 small businesses in the United States
The SBA states small businesses employ roughly 59 million people, accounting for about 45.9% of all U.S. workers (as of July 2024)
Most are micro businesses (1–9 employees).
Canada
Total small businesses: ~1.21 million (2022 Innovation, Science & Economic Development Canada).
Represent 98% of all employer businesses in the country.
Employ ~10.3 million people (~63% of Canada’s labor force).
Like the U.S., the majority have under 10 employees.
Combined Total
~35.71 million small businesses across the U.S. and Canada.
Together, they employ 70M+ people.
Nearly all of them are affected in some way by cross-border trade costs, shipping rules, and policy changes like the elimination of the de minimis. International small business's are also affected in dramatic ways by the elimination and randomized courier fee's which cannot be planned for.
The elimination of de minimis is harming small businesses...
I run a small Canadian auto parts brand. Every week, I ship dozens of orders to U.S. customers. Since August 29, my $40 shipments are getting hit with $60+ in fees at the border. (UPS) Customers cancel, angry emails pour in, and my business — built from scratch — is at risk.
Now imagine this happening to 33 million small businesses across North America and worldwide! This isn’t just my struggle — it’s everyone’s. That’s why I started this fundraiser: to build a solution that saves global e-commerce for consumers, small businesses, and corporations alike.”
My name is Tamas Varga ( Canadian business owner and developer ) and I’ve poured the last 13 years of my life into building my small business. I design and sell premium automotive products to resolve global solutions. Like millions of entrepreneurs, I started with nothing but an idea, a workbench, and a dream of building something bigger than myself.
For years, my customers — many of them across the border in the United States — kept me going. They believed in my products, and every order shipped was proof that small businesses can thrive in a global economy.
The elimination of the De minimus August 29th changed everything
The results were immediate:
Orders canceled.
Customers angry.
Shipments returned.
And a crushing realization that the system is broken — not just for me, but for 33 million small businesses in North America and countless more worldwide.
I am fighting to keep my dream alive, but I know this isn’t just about me. It’s about every small shop, every online seller, and every consumer who just wants fair access to cross-border trade without being buried in hidden costs.
That’s why I started this campaign: to fund a global solution. Together, we can create tools, advocacy, and systems that protect consumers, support small businesses, and give corporations a sustainable way forward.
Your support — whether $25, $500, or more — means more than just saving one small business. It means giving millions like mine a fighting chance.
We will be supporting an EV internal mandate to completely rule out fuel surcharges. We will be hiring Canadian and American citizens on both sides of the border! Customer service reps will speak fluent english and be dedicated to YOU and not profits.
Invest in our solution and never look back. If this crowdfunding campaign works out. We will be posting regular updates as we build out the network and save you money while also protecting commerce globally!
The idea, the concept and the staff are ready! Are you!?
