In September this year, my good friend Josh was in a very unfortunate accident in which he broke both his legs. This has left him unable to walk and confined to a couch or wheel chair all day. He has since had to move in with his mom for basic care and it will be months still before he is able to begin physical therapy to start walking again.
During recovery, his employer was not willing to allow him to work remotely, even though his job can be done fully remote since it is all computer based. And this last week, they went so far as to terminate him entirely. This has left Josh with no income to pay his mortgage or to help raise his son, Oscar. On top of all that, since his employer also did not provide healthcare coverage, the medical bills coming in are through the roof. At this point, Josh is very nearly out of savings to cover the the financial burdens in his life which I know is weighing on him during a time in which recovery itself is already enough burden for one person to have to bear.
Please consider helping to get Josh back on his feet again (pun intended) by making a donation. It is certainly the season in which we should be considering what we have that others may not, and to help our fellow humans in whatever way we can. Because really, we are all in this together. And even if you can only donate a little, the gesture itself goes a long way in showing that you care which, in some cases like this, may be priceless.
And I'd like to close with this picture of a very young Josh dodging a bee tied to a string... because this is what bored teenagers did back in our day.
