Hey friends and family! I think it's not an unfamiliar feeling that asking for help is difficult and for some reason embarrassing. But I find myself in a bind that I'm not sure how to get out of without some assistance or long term discomfort and I'm choosing to ask for assistance rather than feel like I'm getting setback after setback. Asking everyone for help is something my close friends have encouraged me to do. I think they are right.
On Wednesday January 4th, 2023 I was driving on Ben White access ramp to I-35 when I struck an object in the highway. Unbeknownst to me, it had severely warped and punctured my oil pan. I was working at the time and continued to my destination. But it wasn't long before the oil light came on, then check engine, and then the vehicle shut down. After getting it safely home, I have tried a few diagnostic tests and it seems now that the internal engine parts have seized. This is a modest, humble car. The repairs may in fact be more than it's worth. I'm not sure what value it has, if it is reparable in a timely manner, or if I should try to find another vehicle altogether and just make my current car a total loss.
It's frustrating, and stressful, and definitely is preventing me from providing for myself and family, and limits my opportunities. I can say that this has made me reevaluate what I should be doing, and friends have already reached out with support and opportunities that make me hopeful for the future. But my immediate needs are great and I could use some help in getting a quote, repair costs, or even down payment on a new (to me) vehicle.
My goal is set for $1500 and most likely will not be enough to cover everything especially if I have to find a new vehicle, but still puts me in a position where I can quickly react and make decisions without stressing too greatly. Whatever you can send is greatly appreciated, and for those who have already given, it means a lot to me and motivates me to resolve this issue so I can get back to work. Thanks for reading this!
