Hello,
My name is Bek :)
Thanks for visiting - I will start at the beginning.
Around five years ago, I began feeling a sudden and severe pressure in my head which quite literally would push me to the ground. This was worse when I would raise my arms or bend my head down.
I went to multiple different GP’s and was always dismissed as just having a headache.
Around two years ago, my falls became more frequent, I would have a baseline headache every day and fall at least once a day due to head pressure.
Again, I queried with GP’s and was dismissed.
Fast forward to November 2025, I began to lose my eyesight during pressure episodes.
My friend also pointed out that my speech sounded weird.
A few other new symptoms popped up;
- progressively worsening pulsitile tinnitus (i can hear whooshing in my ears at all times)
- severe migraines, sometimes lasting several days.
- limb weakness
- loss of speech during episodes
- loss of motor ability during episodes
- bilateral vision loss
- hearing loss
- tremors
- fainting
- nausea
- dizziness
- blurry vision
- nystagmus
Now, i went back to the GP. I finally saw a lovely doctor and she immediately ordered several tests.
CT, bloods, ECG, urine etc
Everything came back normal.
I then saw Opthamology to determine whether my vision issues are because of my brain or my eyes. Spoiler alert, it is not my eyes. So they said they can’t help me.
I have been to A&E countless times, GP appts countless times. I had to leave a job i loved in December because I had been off sick more than I had worked due to this.
I am unsafe alone, I am now falling up to 15 times a day, unpredictably.
I am in pain every day of my life, so much so that when my pain is at a 7/10, i think “Wow lucky me!”
I have now been told I need to wait upto 7 months, maybe longer for a neurology appointment on the NHS.
I truly don’t believe I can live like this for another 7 months with no help.
I do not have private healthcare through work and so I am hoping to raise money to go and see a Neurologist privately.
Some of the costs are hidden until you are in the process. However, I have noted some costs down below. These are averages based off private clinics across London.
Inital consultation £350 - £450
Follow up £250
Specialist tests (MRI brain, spine) £500 - £800
Nerve Tests (EMG / NCS) £300
With multiple tests needed and no doubt a couple follow-ups, i am asking for donations to help me figure out what is wrong with my head, so I can finally start living life again, without this pain.
Thank you.
Funds will be used for private medical care, to understand what is wrong with me and provide treatment.
