Five Little Lives: A Rescue Story of Faith & Hope This past summer, a frightened, pregnant stray cat began coming to my home for food and water. Over time, she slowly learned to trust me. She eventually gave birth to five precious kittens beneath our home. Then tragedy struck. Their momma was hit by a vehicle. I found her still breathing, knelt beside her, and gently placed my hand on her. It was the first time I’d ever been able to touch her, and sadly, the last. Before she passed, I promised her I would find and protect her babies. Three kittens were rescued, but two remained missing. My husband and I searched desperately for days. One night, I sat crying on a hillside, begging God to help me find them. I remembered the Bible’s parable of the lost sheep. Three babies were safe, but the other two mattered just as much. The very next night, we found them! Waylon and Merle had been hiding together beneath a deck. After six days without their mother, they were finally reunited with their three siblings.
Today, all five kittens — Willie, Merle, Waylon, Dolly, and Winnie — are safe, growing, playing, and deeply loved. I’m asking for help providing veterinary examinations, deworming, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and nutritious kitten food. I may keep Winnie and Dolly, while finding carefully selected, loving, indoor forever homes for the others. Proverbs 12:10 (NLT) reminds us: “The godly care for their animals…” I believe the way we treat helpless creatures reflects the compassion in our hearts. They aren’t “just animals.” Their lives matter. If you feel led to donate, any amount would be a blessing. If you cannot donate, please pray for these babies and share their story. Their momma protected them as long as she could. Now I’m doing everything I can to give them the future she never got to see.
In loving memory of the little mother who never made it home. Your babies did. And they are loved. Thank you, and God bless.
