The Film

Last Girls at the Party is a 90's coming-of-age drama about five girls who meet at a chaotic campsite party, each one silently carrying their own pain. But when one of them is revealed to be in an abusive relationship, the others come together to protect her. In that one unforgettable night, they discover something they didn’t even know they were looking for: strength in girlhood.

This story is about vulnerability, survival, and the quiet power of women who choose to show up for each other. It’s a raw, intimate look at what it truly means to be a girl in a world that tells you to stay silent.

Director's Statement

The origin of Last Girls at the Party was horror. A way of telling a story about the power of girlhood, except, when the story continued to evolve, I realized this is far more than just feeding into my love for horror films. This film is a voice. A voice for the girls who may have grown up being told to never feel and to keep everything inside. The story then quickly became a love letter to the chaos of girlhood, the ache of growing out of the norms society have put amongst women, and the bittersweet realization of letting go and letting it all in. This film transformed into a coming-of-age drama that encapsulated what it truly means to be a girl.

As a filmmaker, I am typically drawn into the spaces between laughter and heartbreak. The kind of night that looms in the fun and brightness, but deep within there is something dark that is waiting to reach the light of day. This story of mine, follows a group of girls on what on the surface level looks like a fun party to most, but when you begin to peel back the levels of each character you realize each person holds a deeper pain, a wanting for something more.

Directing this film is not about creating a visual world for others to enjoy, it’s about honoring the emotional truth of keeping it all inside and then accepting that it’s okay to feel and let it all go. Every look, every character, every story, every little detail holds weight in this film. I wanted to create something that felt authentic, nostalgic, and raw with maybe a little dash of edge for what it’s like being a girl growing up in a society that silences you.

Last Girls at the Party isn’t just a story about one night. It’s about identity, girlhood, survival, and healing. It’s for anyone who’s ever held on too tightly until they realize part of growing up means growing apart and becoming your own person.

This one means a lot to me and I hope you feel the story deep within where the things we hide most have a voice to finally grasp onto.
