Ciao!

I am Francesco, Fiù for the Friends, a professional sailor from South Sardinia (Italy) and this year 2023 with my 6.5 boat Gintonic I am planning to race on the MiniTransat 2023. This solo Ocean race across the Atlantic Ocean onboard 6.5 metres boat has been my dream ever since, and I am proud to have the possibility to do it also while helping the Ocean. Onboard with me I will have different oceanographic sensors that will allow me to collect ocean data while sailing, informing scientists and climate forecasts with every mile I sail: a small boat for big Ocean science.

Yet, the costs to qualify, equip the boat, run a competition like this one and manage the boat back to Europe are not unconsiderable. I have been luck many friends, family, companies and realities have supported me with every effort the could, whether it was equipment, time, company, money or just some comfort when I needed it. This crowfunding is to raise the last funds needed to get to the starting line of the MiniTransat this year, and a simple way for everyone asking "how can I contribute to your dream?" to be part of this journey.
