Fitness for Hilton Head's Brave Firefighters

This fundraiser is being created by me personally, on behalf of my father and his fellow firefighters who serve at the Hilton Head Island Airport Fire Department. This is not an official fundraiser endorsed by the fire department or local government—just a heartfelt effort to support a group of dedicated public servants who deserve better.

My father and the rest of his crew have been trying for over two years to purchase a treadmill for their station—something to help them maintain their physical and mental health while on duty. The money has been available in the department’s training budget, but airport administration has consistently refused to allow it to be used for fitness equipment.

As a temporary solution, the administration offered $10 Planet Fitness memberships instead—expecting firefighters to leave the airport, and their district, to go off-site and exercise for an hour. That might sound fine in theory, but when you’re on call for emergencies at an active airport, leaving the station isn’t always an option—and certainly not ideal for emergency readiness.

Adding to the concern, every firefighter at the airport station is over 50 years old. These men continue to serve with pride and professionalism, and staying fit is absolutely critical to their performance, safety, and long-term well-being. They aren’t asking for much—just the ability to stay active and healthy at their workplace.

Currently, they have no on-site fitness equipment. Instead, they walk laps around the parking lot in the blazing heat of the Lowcountry summer or the cold, windy winters. It’s simply not right.

I'm hoping to raise $3,000 for them to purchase a high-quality treadmill that can serve their team well. This is a small but meaningful step to support those who serve our community every day.

Again, this campaign is being organized independently and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Hilton Head Island Airport Fire Department. 100% of funds will go toward the purchase and delivery of the treadmill for use by these firefighters.
