Fists for Fire

Fuck fire. Seriously. We don't really know what to do here, or how to really cause any real good to come out of this. We just want to do something.
We are Asychrony, a youtube channel creating narrative content for the masses. We've already raised $6,000 for Extra Life, a childrens charity that raises funds to help kids receive life saying medical treatment for chronic conditions regardless of income.
In our local community, Oakland, a community event space called Ghost Ship was destroyed in a fire, along with several dozen people from our imidiate social group. As well as one of our good friends, someone who helped us through our first community events in The Bay Area, Jonathon Bernbaum
John was a cornerstone of our community. He brought a lot of art and passion to the world of live visuals, and helped to shape the Bay Area music scene. It is because our relationship with Jonathon that we're raising these funds.
In the aftermath of this tradgedy, a lot of people in our intimate community are going to be hit hard with unexpected expenses. People are currently being evicted from their warehouses, facing the cost of having to convert existing community spaces to different zoning, and dealing with medical expenses associated with the fire.
We will be using this money for a myriad of things:
- Assistance in funeral fees associated with the deceased.
- Adding to a collective fund for displaced artists to draw upon for incidental unexpected expenses.
- Attorney and consultation fees for other community warehouse spaces converting to proper zoning.
- Medical expenses for those injured or hurt during the fire.
