A pup we all know and love is needing some help!

Fish has had a really rough couple of months. He was recently diagnosed with acute pancreatitis that then lead to a diabetes diagnosis with highs of up to 37!

While Dawn and Fish struggled to manage the diabetes diagnosis he also ended up with an eye infection. After three visits to the vet, several medications, and no answers Fish’s eye only got worse. Dawn needed answers so she got a second opinion and was urgently referred to an eye specialist and he it turned out he had a deep ulcer on his eye and the original eye drops they were prescribed only made it worse. This was causing fluid and pressure build up. Mixed with the diabetes Fish was at risk of loosing his eye entirely. Hoping for a miracle, the vet prescribed some drops and painkillers that Dawn had to administer hourly for 48 hours.

Unfortunately over the weekend Fish was suddenly in a lot of pain and his eye was draining fluid so Dawn rushed him to the pet hospital, they were unable to do anything besides call the eye specialist they had already seen and move her next appointment up sooner. The next day they went in and the specialist determined that his eye had ruptured and Fish was admitted for surgery to either remove to eye or do a skin graft on it. Luckily the surgery was successful and Fish was able to keep his eye but his sugars have been unstable all day. He will need close monitoring over the next three weeks to ensure the skin graft is accepted or he risks needing to get the eye removed.

Within the last week Dawn hasn’t been able to work as he has needed constant care. She also will need to take a lot of time off in the coming weeks so ensure Fish heals properly.

Dawn has stood faithfully beside Fish and now has almost $6k in vet bills (after insurance coverage) that she is trying to manage.
