Fishing Line Entanglements Kills Seabirds

My name is Kerry. I am the Director of Skyway Team Bird Rescue Inc. in St. Englewood, Fl. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit. We focus mainly on the Skyway Fishing Pier location. We rescue seabirds from fishing line entanglement injures. The Skyway is a unique state park, and the longest fishing pier in the world. By mistake birds can get entangled very quickly and can get very serious injuries or can die from hanging in the mangroves where they nest. Rescuers are on the pier 3-4 days a week 8 hrs a day rescuing birds with big treble hooks, sabiki rigs with many tiny hooks on a long line that get hooked many different ways, and heavy lead sinkers that make it hard for birds to be able to swim, float, fly, or be able to survive. The hooks tear holes, and the line can cut off wings, and feet. Skyway Team Bird Rescue needs tools, supplies, nets, cutters, transport kennels, towels, walkie talkies, business cards, funding,

help with boat rescues, office supplies, teaching materials, classes, ect to continue fighting for and saving these birds from the fishing line that impacts their way of life and the environment.
